German toll exemption a model to drive decarbonisation The German Parliament voted to extend the existing exemption from road user charges for clean trucks, powered by CNG, LNG and electricity, until 2023. New dates for the Congress, which will still take place in Berlin, will be communicated in due course. IRU member stories Bus tourism fighting to survive Germany has announced a EUR 5 billion stimulus package targeting public transport companies. IRU member BDO welcomes this as a first step, but criticises that “the government's package is far from being adequate and will not prevent German coach operators from going bankrupt. If real help does not come quickly, the lights will go out for bus tourism. School trips, club trips, cultural events, rail replacement transport and mobility in rural areas - all of this is now at stake,” said Christiane Leonard, General Manager of BDO.
