Click here InvitationThe IRU/EU Conference will be held in Brussels and online on Wednesday 1 June from 17:00 to 19:00 (CET) Fit for 55: The Road Ahead Following last year’s IRU-EU Conference on Fit for 55 and its implications for road transport, the next conference will focus on EU plans for alternative fuel infrastructure and supporting road transport operators to scale up green technologies. Join us and leading figures from EU institutions, governments and the wider road transport industry to debate two key topics:

UMBERTO DE PRETTO EU state aid framework not enough to stop road transport bankruptcies The European Commission’s temporary crisis framework for state aid economic support measures in relation to the war in Ukraine does not go far enough to support commercial road transport operators overwhelmed by escalating fuel costs. Helping Ukraine’s refugees one bus at a time IRU member FlixBus has responded immediately to the war in Ukraine by offering free rides and additional connections as well as providing support on the ground to refugees fleeing the country. The company is working with governments to include it in their planning of humanitarian relief plans. TIR boosting trade across Central Asia At the Tashkent International Investment Forum, Uzbekistan spearheaded digitalisation and connectivity in the region and highlighted the role of public-private partnerships. Kyrgyzstan joined digital TIR aiming to support secure, legal and efficient trade and transit. And Uzbek company Swift-Silk-Road began to transport goods from Uzbekistan to Pakistan via Afghanistan. IRU selected for key EU project for enforcement of Mobility Package 1 IRU is thrilled to be one of the founding partners of the winning consortium for the EU-funded TRACE 2 (Transport Regulators Align Control Transport Enforcement) project on enforcing Mobility Package 1 rules.
