Safety in dental imaging during the pandemic

Safety in dental imaging during the pandemic

Different imaging methods can provide different types of patient safety benefits in times of the COVID-19 pandemic. Our extraoral bitewing program helps to reduce droplets when capturing images, while our intraoral imaging options support physical distancing measures at clinics.

Current situation with exhibitions and events

1. Current situation with exhibitions and events

Due to the decision of the German federal government that large events are prohibited until 31 August as a result of the corona pandemic, no current exhibition participation is planned until October.

We hope you will understand and we would be happy to welcome you again as a visitor to our stand at the next exhibition. Our experts will be glad to advise you and look forward to exchanging ideas with you about your individual measuring tasks and requirements.

Would you like to stay up-to-date or do you have a question? Just take a look at our WIKA exhibition schedule or get in touch with us using our contact form.

Hastelloy pressure gauge for highly aggressive media

3. Hastelloy pressure gauge for highly aggressive media

For pressure measurement in processes with highly aggressive media, WIKA has a new Bourdon tube pressure gauge in its portfolio, the PG28. The wetted parts are made of Hastelloy C276 and are even resistant to chlorine gas, hydrofluoric acid and sulphuric acid.

Users therefore have a corrosion-resistant measuring solution that requires little installation space. The new Bourdon tube pressure gauge is available in nominal sizes 100 and 160, can be supplied with scale ranges from 0 to 700 bar and is suitable for ATEX and NACE sour gas applications.

Further application examples for machine building

4. Further application examples for machine building

New application examples, measurement technology and services: WIKA has expanded the contents of its brochure with instrumentation solutions for the machine-building industry. From linear drives, wind turbines and water jet cutting to weighing technology, high-pressure test benches and cranes & hoists: Six new application examples can now be found in the brochure and on the website.

Each application is matched with relevant instrumentation from the WIKA portfolio, dependent on the need for the measurands pressure, temperature, level, flow and force.

OEM pressure sensor for mobile working machines

5. OEM pressure sensor for mobile working machines

The new MH-4 OEM pressure sensor has been tailored to a wide spectrum of applications under extreme conditions. The robustness of the new sensor has been confirmed through hardness tests in accordance with mobile hydraulic standards and on a customer-specific basis.

The sensor withstands pressure spikes in hydraulic systems with up to three-times overload safety, vibrations up to 40 g and mechanical shocks of up to 100 g. Furthermore, it is insensitive to fast temperature changes between -40 °C and 125 °C as well as immune against electrical field strengths of up to 100 V/m.

Accreditation for further measurand

6. Accreditation for further measurand

A lot of test equipment is calibrated in defined cycles – including force measuring instruments. This is of great importance in order to ensure, among other things, process safety. Within the WIKA Group, DAkkS calibration certificates for force measuring instruments that are traceable and accredited in accordance with ISO 17025 can now be issued in Germany.

The calibration is made in a measuring range of 1 kN … 200 kN with a measurement uncertainty of 0.1 % in tension and compression force direction (DIN EN ISO 376). Furthermore, in the measuring range of 500 N … 6 MN, with a system accuracy of 0.5 % in tension and compression force direction, a 3.1 inspection certificate can be issued.

The range of services depend on the region you are. For more information please visit the local website for your country.

Load cell systems for hospital beds

7. Load cell systems for hospital beds

Hospital beds with built-in weighing components have quickly become critical devices for monitoring patient conditions in order to ensure an optimal supply of medication, liquids or anaesthetics. In order to monitor the patient's health, it is important to know whether weight is being gained or lost, especially in premature babies.

WIKA offers highly customisable load cell systems for manufacturers of high-tech hospital beds so that people who can no longer walk don't need to leave the bed for the weighing process.

What is meant by the total error band?

8. What is meant by the total error band?

The accuracy of a pressure sensor is determined under laboratory conditions at room temperature. However, this is usually not the case when the instrument is in use, because here the operating temperature often deviates from room temperature. This can have a number of effects on the accuracy of the measuring instrument. WIKA specifies these possible deviations within the so-called total error band.

Would you like to learn more about the total error band? Take a look at our new video.

Electronic differential pressure measurement for level control

9. Electronic differential pressure measurement for level control

Differential pressure measurement is widely used as a method for monitoring the level of closed vessels. When monitoring the level using electronic differential pressure measurement, both measuring points have one process transmitter each.

These are arranged as master and slave and are connected, purely electrically, via a signal cable and are therefore not susceptible to disturbances. The slave is supplied with power via the master and parameterised via a serial interface or through the display on the master. Communication is via an internal bus.

Read the full blog post to learn more about the benefits of electronic differential pressure measurement for level monitoring.
